Open Klank
Today I want to talk about a unique instrument made by hand by skilled artisans, namely the kalimba Open Klank.
Open Klank is a Dutch brand. The instruments produced in this workshop are entirely handmade and adapted to the needs of each individual musician.
This kalimba, in particular, was built just for me.
The Kalimba is made out of one piece of platane wood, processed so as to give it a circular shape, the most relaxing and aesthetically beautiful.
It may look very big, but it fits perfectly in slender hands like those of a 24-year-old girl.
This instrument is tuned in G Major, but, as any other kalimba, I can adapt the tuning to my needs.

every instrument from Open Klank is unique. Look at the tines: their
uniqueness lies in the choice to mount them in reverse. is an

Open Klank recommends not to use a metal hammer to tune, but to help yourself with a soft wooden support so as not to damage the quality of the tines
The volume is very high and the note is held very long.
Speaking of comfort while playing, I assure you that this kalimba will push you to play it for hours without getting tired. is halfway between a sansula and a kalimba, thanks to its hollow shape that gives a wonderful delay effect.
Because of its weight, not excessive, and because of its use similar to that of a sansula, I suggest to play it leaning on the legs or a flat surface.
