The enviroment
The kalimba has so many wonderful gifts.
Take her with you to a quiet place, learn to estrange yourself from the rest of the world: be you and your musical instrument.
Choose a quiet place, maybe immersed in nature. Or if you are a daredevil, like me, choose the roof of a palace in the city: isolating the noise will be an interesting exercise.
Play your kalimba as you like. Listen to its sound, but also to your body: control your breath, choose the movements of the thumbs that most relax you.
I assure you that after a few minutes, this exercise will become a real experience: you will feel at ease with the environment, you will let yourself go to the soothing sound of your kalimba and you will breathe properly.
You will feel better, more positive and ready to face that everyday life that, under stress, makes you fragile and insecure.
Spend half an hour a day feeling good: if you can’t find a quiet place to immerse yourself in nature, close yourself in a room in your home, with a warm and soft light, maybe generated by scented candles and relax with your kalimba.
Playing the kalimba is like cleaning your mind: it is such a simple instrument with such a harmonious sound that everything else disappears. You don’t need to be clever enough to play something beautiful and you’ll soon realize it. You’ll feel like you’re in balance: your inner self will be in symbiosis with the outside and the two hemispheres of your brain (and body) will co-operate together.
